- This delegate is presenting an abstract at this event.
Kirsten Campbell, BSW, MPH (International Health), began her career at the Migrant Resource Centre North West, working with South Sudanese and Turkish communities to prevent family violence. She then worked in a range of roles and projects to prevent violence against women at Women's Health West(WHW) including the development of the Western Region Strategy to Prevent Violence Against Women, Preventing Violence Together. Lead On Again, a leadership program for young refugee women, and the Financial Literacy Program for newly arrived women are further projects Kirsten has managed to work towards equity and justice for women in Melbourne's west. After identifying gaps in human rights, advocacy and
civic participation proficiency among migrant and
refugee women in the west, Kirsten secured funding
from the Australian Attorney General’s Department to
implement the project Our Community, Our Rights (OCOR) with three communities over three years (2012-2014).
The project aims to develop women’s understanding,
skills and confidence to advocate for human rights, and
to actively participate in civil society.
Kirsten is a keen runner, swimmer and traveller, and mother to a small daughter, Eleanor.
