Monique Hillenaar is a Health Promotion Officer representing Gateway Health and Northeast Health Wangaratta- located in the Central Hume Primary Care Partnership, Hume Region, Victoria, Australia. Monique completed a Bachelor of Health Sciences at Deakin Universty in 2013, with majors in Health Promotion, Physical Activity and Health and Family, Society and Health. Since then, Monique has completed a range of additional professional development activities including 'Effectively working in Partnerships' through the Regional Development Company, Easy English Training through Ovens and King Community Health Service, a number of workshops through the University of Melbourne which focus on qualitative and quantitative methodologies, presenting findings and presentations, and the 'Bridges out of Poverty' training. Monique undertook the Healthy Food Basket survey as part of a volunteer placement with Ovens and King Community Health Service in November 2012. The Healthy Food Basket survey highlighted the difficulties for low income earners in affording the groceries required to meet healthy food guidelines. Monique has also been involved in research around the accessibility of healthy food items across the Rural City of Wangaratta. Monique has been instrumental in gathering, reading and preparing background information on literature around healthy eating issues for people on low incomes. Monique presented the Healthy Food Connect strategy to the CO-OPS Collaboration in Adelaide. Monique is currently involved in a range of health promotion activities and research with Gateway Health and Northeast Health Wangaratta.
