Ms Claire Rooney completed a Bachelor of Biomedical Science, with a minor in public health in 2010 (University of Ballarat, Australia). Claire continued her studies with an honors research thesis in 2011 graduating with a H1A. This work investigated the link between women’s knowledge of cardiovascular disease and their access to cardiovascular disease specific gendered health promotion materials. Claire continues her public health research as a PhD Candidate at Federation University Australia (formally University of Ballarat). This research commenced in 2012 with the estimated completion date early 2015. Federation University Australia and Women’s Health Grampians have formally partnered for the duration of this work. During this time Claire has had two years industry experience with Women’s Health Grampians, a government funded health promotion service. During this period Claire has developed an extensive network and partnership base locally and internationally. Using this network base, Claire consulted for ‘Women's Health: Meaningful measures for population health planning resource’ published by the Australian Women’s Health Network, 2013. Claire looks forward to continuing her PhD and postdoctoral work on the representation of gender in public policies.
